About Michuda Construction

History

Prior to establishing his own business in 1919, Leo Michuda, Sr. perfected his craft working as an interior carpenter for the Pullman Rail Car Factory on Chicago’s South Side. During this time, he gilded the finely crafted interiors of personal rail cars for the Vanderbilt, the Rockefeller, and the Morgan families. This quality workmanship carried over to the firm when he struck out on his own in 1919.

Leo Michuda, Jr. joined his father in 1929, prior to the Great Depression, and carried the company into its second generation. The successful tradition of the firm was passed to Leo A. Michuda, son of Leo Michuda, Jr. Through Leo A. Michuda’s leadership the company built a reputation as one of the premier design builders of Chicago schools and a leader of construction renovation.

In the early 1980’s, Leo’s sons, Mark and Josef, joined the firm. In 1990, Mark and Josef took over all management operations of the company. Mark and Josef have leveraged their unique management, construction skills and talents to successfully continue the growth of Michuda Construction, Inc. They implemented innovative strategic planning processes, expanded into the health care industry, and assembled a management team of experienced talented executives. Through these efforts, Michuda Construction, Inc. has become one of the premier builders in the Midwest. Michuda Construction, Inc. has changed and grown dramatically since 1919, but its philosophy of doing business has remained the same.
