Project Profile
Michuda Construction spearheaded Construction Management at Risk services for the transformative expansion of Advocate Christ Medical Center Hybrid ORs. The innovative suite design, featuring a 45-degree angle placement of equipment and a prefabricated Clean Suite ceiling system, underscores Michuda’s commitment to advancing healthcare environments.
Challenges and Solutions:
Expansion of Hybrid OR Phase 1 and Phase 2: Challenge: Construction Management at Risk services provided for the expansion of Hybrid OR Phase 1 and Phase 2 at Advocate Christ Medical Center, involving a 1,300 sq.ft. addition for the new Hybrid OR (Phase 1) and an additional 1,300 sq.ft. designated for a future Hybrid OR (Phase 2). Solution: Execute the expansion in 4 phases, emphasizing the 2nd-floor mechanical room to support the 3rd-floor addition of the Hybrid OR. Utilize a designated pocket within the existing “circle drive” of the campus for construction.
Building Exterior Aesthetics: Challenge: The building’s exterior features precast concrete and a spandrel glass curtain wall, aligning aesthetically with the existing outpatient pavilion’s curtain wall. Solution: Ensure the exterior aesthetics align seamlessly with the existing outpatient pavilion through the use of precast concrete and a spandrel glass curtain wall.
Maintaining Seamless Operations: Challenge: To maintain seamless operations of the existing OR, multiple shutdowns were strategically coordinated. Solution: Strategically coordinate multiple shutdowns to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the existing OR. Optimize the Hybrid OR suite with a 45-degree angle equipment placement for efficient use of space. Seamlessly integrate a prefabricated Clean Suite ceiling system into the overall design.
