In 2019, the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) released several new and revised pharmacy compounding standards. USP 800 expanded controls for the protection of workers and environments against hazardous drug compounds.
As a result, many infusion therapy labs within acute care facilities were required to institute mechanical controls to comply with this new standard.
Michuda Construction performed numerous USP-800 compliance upgrades at acute care facilities throughout the Chicago-Metro area.
Project elements included:
-Furnish and install fume hoods
-Maintain a sterile work environment
-Implement and maintain ICRA barriers
-Implement and monitor negative air controls
-Multi-phase projects adjacent to ongoing healthcare operations
