PROJECT SCOPE
Michuda Construction successfully completed the renovation and expansion of the AMG-Downers Grove Cardiology Services, a 13,000-square-foot project designed to enhance cardiology services for the local community. The project focused on expanding the facility’s capacity to accommodate increased staff, additional patients, and cutting-edge medical technology while making the most of the existing footprint. The renovation transformed the facility into a modern, patient-centric space that optimizes healthcare delivery.
The scope of work included reconfiguring interior layouts, upgrading MEP systems, enhancing patient and staff areas, and integrating advanced technology to support cardiology care. Michuda’s approach emphasized a seamless renovation process, maintaining high standards of quality and patient care throughout.
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS
The renovation of the AMG-Downers Grove Cardiology Services facility presented several logistical and operational challenges, which were addressed through proactive planning and innovative solutions:
Working in an Occupied Facility: Given the location of the project on the top floor of a fully occupied medical offices facility, minimizing disruptions was a top priority. Construction activities were carefully planned to avoid interfering with ongoing medical operations below. Michuda employed staggered shifts, aligning work hours with the facility’s schedule to ensure that patient care and staff activities continued with minimal interference.
Limited Space on the Top Floor: The constrained space on the top floor required careful resource management to prevent congestion. Michuda established a remote staging area for materials and equipment, keeping the construction site organized and maintaining a smooth workflow. This strategic allocation of resources reduced potential safety hazards and allowed for efficient material handling.
Maintaining a Clean and Safe Jobsite: To ensure safety and efficiency, Michuda employed a “Just in Time” delivery approach, coordinating material and equipment deliveries to arrive only when needed. This method minimized jobsite clutter and reduced the risk of accidents, enhancing overall safety and work efficiency.
PROJECT OUTCOME
The AMG-Downers Grove Cardiology Services Expansion was completed on schedule and within the planned scope, providing enhanced cardiology services to the community. The newly renovated facility accommodates more staff, patients, and modern technology, significantly improving healthcare delivery. Michuda Construction’s meticulous planning and execution ensured a seamless project that met the highest standards of quality, safety, and patient care.
