Project Profile
Michuda Construction successfully delivered the complete build-out of the third floor within Riverside Medical Center’s new Medical Office Building, transforming the core-and-shell space into a fully functional, multi-specialty clinical environment. The project supports Riverside Healthcare’s growing network of physicians and specialists while maintaining strict standards of quality, safety, and patient comfort.
The build-out included new exam rooms, treatment spaces, imaging suites, staff support areas, and waiting zones—each designed to reflect Riverside’s patient-centered care philosophy. Through early engagement and proactive trade coordination, Michuda’s team ensured an efficient, seamless delivery within the occupied hospital campus.

Serving as Construction Manager at Risk, Michuda Construction provided comprehensive preconstruction, budgeting, and scheduling services to deliver the 3rd-floor build-out ahead of schedule and within budget.
Key Elements of the Project:
Interior Build-Out: Complete fit-out of exam rooms, nurses’ stations, corridors, and waiting areas with high-end finishes and durable healthcare materials.
MEP Integration: Installation of medical gas systems, air handling units, and building automation controls designed to integrate with Riverside’s existing hospital infrastructure.
Imaging & Radiology Suites: Constructed specialized spaces with enhanced structural and shielding requirements to support new diagnostic equipment.
Coordination & Quality: Detailed coordination with multiple design teams and vendors to align finishes, layouts, and mechanical systems.
Patient & Staff Flow: Optimized circulation and room adjacencies to improve functionality and patient experience.
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS
Occupied Campus Coordination
Challenge: The project was executed within a live hospital environment, requiring stringent infection control and minimal disruption to ongoing patient services.
Solution: Michuda implemented ICRA/ILSM containment measures, coordinated phased work, and maintained continuous communication with hospital staff to ensure zero operational downtime.
Long Lead Equipment & Material Procurement
Challenge: Supply chain volatility threatened delivery of key medical equipment and finish materials.
Solution: Early trade engagement and proactive procurement strategies—initiated during design—ensured on-time delivery of critical components.
Mechanical & Electrical Upgrades
Challenge: The 3rd-floor systems required integration with existing base-building utilities without impacting floors below.
Solution: Michuda’s MEP team developed detailed tie-in plans and conducted off-hour shutdowns to maintain uninterrupted hospital operations.
