PROJECT SCOPE
Michuda Construction undertook a full-scale renovation of Mark Twain Elementary School, modernizing its facilities while preserving its historic character. The renovation focused on enhancing educational spaces, upgrading building systems, and improving accessibility and safety for students and staff.
Scope of work included:
Classroom and Interior Space Modernization: Comprehensive upgrades to classrooms, hallways, and common areas, including new flooring, ceilings, paint, and lighting to create functional, engaging, and technology-friendly learning environments.
Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) System Upgrades: Replacement and modernization of critical building systems, including HVAC installations, electrical upgrades, and plumbing modifications to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability.
Historic Preservation and Restoration: Retaining and restoring key architectural elements of the original building to honor its legacy while integrating modern design elements to support contemporary educational needs.
Accessibility Enhancements: Installation of ADA-compliant features, such as accessible ramps, handrails, and restrooms, to ensure inclusivity and ease of access for all students and staff.
Safety and Security Improvements: Installation of modern security systems, including upgraded fire alarms, emergency lighting, and access control measures to create a safe and secure learning environment.
