Project Profile
Michuda Construction successfully delivered a one-story addition to Ann &
Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital’s Westchester Outpatient Facility, expanding
the building’s operational capacity while maintaining uninterrupted healthcare
services. The project included the construction of new support spaces,
modifications to existing areas, installation of a new rooftop HVAC system, and
significant utility infrastructure improvements—all seamlessly integrated into the
existing facility.

Throughout construction, Michuda overcame several complex challenges, including
long-lead mechanical equipment delays, unforeseen utility conflicts, design
modifications, and architectural finish coordination. Through proactive planning
and collaborative problem-solving, the team implemented temporary cooling
systems, coordinated critical fuel line relocations without disrupting operations,
and resolved design and material issues while maintaining project momentum.
The completed addition blends seamlessly with the existing building and provides
valuable operational space to support Lurie Children’s continued growth. This
project highlights Michuda’s ability to navigate unforeseen challenges, maintain
schedule performance, and deliver high-quality healthcare construction projects
in active environments where operational continuity and stakeholder coordination
are critical to success.
