PROJECT SCOPE
Michuda Construction provided Construction Management at Risk services for the renovation of the main entryway and vestibule at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The project aimed to enhance the hospital’s main entrance, improving functionality, aesthetics, and accessibility for all users.
The scope of work included:
Demolition and Reconstruction of Main Entryway: Removal of existing entry components and reconstruction of the primary entrance area to accommodate a modernized vestibule.
New Vestibule Construction: Creation of a new vestibule structure designed to improve the flow of patient, staff, and visitor traffic while providing shelter and climate control.
Upgraded Finishes and Lighting: Installation of high-quality finishes, lighting enhancements, and accessibility improvements to ensure a welcoming and well-lit entryway.
Mechanical and Electrical Upgrades: Integration of HVAC modifications, electrical systems, and lighting to align with the functional requirements of the new entryway and vestibule.
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS
The main entryway and vestibule renovation presented unique challenges due to its location within an occupied hospital and the need for an expedited schedule:
Occupied Space Coordination: Renovating the main entrance of an active hospital required meticulous planning to minimize disruptions to hospital operations. Michuda coordinated closely with hospital staff, implementing phased construction activities and maintaining safe and accessible entry points for patients and visitors.
