This multi-phased project was meticulously planned to allow the OB floor to remain operational throughout construction, ensuring uninterrupted patient care.
CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS
The OB Renovation project presented unique challenges due to the sensitive nature of the environment, as well as the need for seamless hospital operations. Michuda Construction implemented strategic solutions to ensure the project met Advocate Health Care’s high standards for patient care:
Sensitive Environment: The project required careful noise and disruption management to maintain a quiet, comforting space for expecting mothers and infants. Michuda scheduled disruptive work within a limited, designated window to minimize disturbances.
Complex Phasing: The main project phases were divided into smaller, concurrent sub-phases, allowing work to progress efficiently without impacting hospital operations.
Temporary Facilities: Prior to main construction, Michuda created temporary nurse stations, patient rooms, and triage areas to maintain ongoing care and facilitate patient flow within the unit.
Utility Management: Coordinating multiple MEP utility shutdowns required precise scheduling and real-time adjustments to avoid disruptions. Michuda’s team worked closely with hospital facilities to ensure continuous functionality.
Strategic Scheduling: Loud and disruptive activities were carefully timed to fit within designated low-activity periods, ensuring minimal interference with patient care and hospital staff activities.
