Riverside Medical Office Expansion and Renovation

Serving as Construction Manager at Risk, Michuda Construction oversaw the expansion and renovation of Riverside Healthcare's Coal City Medical Office Building, coordinating new construction, infrastructure improvements, and interior renovations to create a fully integrated outpatient healthcare facility supporting oncology, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and related clinical services.

Key Elements of the Project:

• Ground-Up Medical Office Expansion – Constructed a new 9,525-square-foot addition housing modern oncology, rehabilitation, and outpatient clinical spaces.

• Interior Renovation – Renovated 1,480 square feet within the existing facility to improve patient flow and seamlessly connect the new addition.

• Site Development & Infrastructure – Completed extensive site improvements including three new stormwater retention ponds, a new access road, underground utilities, and supporting civil infrastructure.

• Structural Construction – Installed new foundations, structural steel framing, roof decking, and exterior wall systems to support the facility expansion.

• MEP Systems Integration – Installed new HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems throughout both the addition and renovated spaces.

• Subgrade Stabilization – Mitigated challenging soil conditions through excavation and engineered backfill, providing a stable foundation for long-term building performance.

Solution: Michuda implemented engineered soil stabilization by excavating unsuitable materials and replacing them with engineered backfill, providing a stable foundation for the building and reducing long-term settlement risks.
