PROJECT SCOPE

Michuda Construction, Inc. provided Construction Management at Risk services for the 50-acre development of Centennial Park for the Tinley Park Park District. The comprehensive scope of work included:

  • Concrete Fishing Pier and Stone Esplanade: Designed for durability and public use, the concrete pier provides a scenic fishing spot, while the stone esplanade adds to the park’s aesthetic appeal.

  • Storm Water Overflow Weir and Bentonite Slurry Wall: These infrastructure components manage stormwater effectively, ensuring proper drainage and flood prevention within the park.

  • Picnic Benches and Structures: Installation of seating areas and picnic shelters to support recreational use.

  • Prefabricated Bridge: A prefabricated pedestrian bridge was installed to enhance connectivity within the park.

  • Surface Parking and Pump Lift Station: Surface parking was constructed for visitor convenience, and a pump lift station was installed to support the park’s water management needs.

  • Over 2,000 Trees and Plantings: The project involved extensive landscaping, with the addition of over 2,000 trees and plantings to create a welcoming green space.

  • Dog Walk Park and Playground Equipment: Dedicated areas were developed for dog walking and play, with new playground equipment installed for family use.

  • Two-Mile Bike Path and Brick Paver Pedestrian Paths: A two-mile bike path and brick paver pedestrian paths were constructed, promoting active recreation and safe pedestrian movement throughout the park.

  • Coordination with the Army Corps of Engineers: Ensured compliance with environmental regulations and effective implementation of water management systems.

CHALLENGES & SOLUTIONS

  • Environmental Compliance: Coordination with the Army Corps of Engineers was necessary to ensure the project adhered to all environmental and regulatory requirements. Michuda managed this process effectively, allowing for seamless construction and compliance with federal standards.
